Hare+Guu FINAL is not licensed so theres not going to be any American releases of it as of now. They will probably license this eventually though I'm guessing :P
October 26, 2005 | Unregistered Commenterwizard55
licensing is expensive, so i assume AN wants to make some money back from their investment in Hare+Guu before buying the rights to Final. heck, i'm surprised they bought the rights to Deluxe before releasing any of the first series.

btw, i'd still really like to see some sort of fanart page on the site

fanart would be a cool idea. Also, it is good that they already licensed Deluxe. It makes the true Jungle wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu (Hale Guu now) fans happier. Now if they only licensed Final.

Why is the release date of volume one being pushed back to February?
December 1, 2005 | Unregistered Commenterwizard55
This is torture! So close... now so far...
December 3, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterJungle Fever
Is Alex Simon that voices Hare a boy or a girl?

Like "wizard55" I to would like to know why the release date has been pushed back to February. I thought it was set for release on Dec.27th/05. So I go looking for it and it's no were to be found, then I find out here that after months of waiting I need to wait more. Lets face waiting is a pain and I don't mind that much so long as when you say that my waiting is over is when it is really over. So is February going to be the final release date or is it going to get puched back again, come on we don't like to be tortured so much. =OP

I can answer this for you guys. The reason the DVD was delayed was they couldn't produce enough Wigs in time for the box release of the DVD. If I remember correctly, they looked into releasing the DVD without the box first, but decided that wasn't really an ideal plan. (Probably would get complaints by people who preordered the DVD+box)

I originally posted this on the DVD Release (Region 1) page, but I figured the Ask the Staff page would be more appropriate.

---------------

I just got the DVD, and I think that you guys did a pretty good job on the voices. I also like the ending theme, as it's the disco theme Guu dances to.

Anyhow, I was wondering if there are any plans, once the DVDs are finished, to release a box set of all the DVDs so that we can buy the entire season at once, instead of paying the $157.36 total it would cost to buy each of the 7 DVDs seperately.

Oh yes the Wigs, I can't wait. So excited (a little upset that I had to wait sooooooo long, but I am sure I will be over that once the Box Set, First DVD, and Wig are in my overjoyed super excited hands) Watched the DVD that came in the New Type, you did a decent job, though I always perfer the Japanese cast with Subtitles much better. Probally because I seen it that way first. One of the better dubs I have heard. Now to count down the days to the release. 1...2...3...etc...etc...

to/@ kittyhas1000legs:

I just randomly came in here, but you are wronge about torrents being bad. Thats like saying guns are bad. It is never the actully thing being bad because torrents and guns are inanimate objects they can't be good or bad. It the user. I actully love torrents because if it wasn't for animesuki and other anime torrent sites I wouldn't know about 1/2 the anime I know about today. I use to use p2p such as kazaa and scourXchange (back when they were good) and I would get a new fansub once a month if I was lucky (even though I have cable ppl stopped shareing unless it was "brand new")

So torrents are actully good if use use them properly. I just went out and bought "The jungle was nice and then came Guu" today (I like the jap name better then "hare+guu")

I would also like the know the answer to wizard55's question about what was the deal with the ending theme. I will admit it was the best ending in the world, but I still liked it.

I’m concerned that difficulties with music licensing issues are becoming common with Funimation. Before Kodocha I had never before had such an experience in which an opening or ending sequence had to be completely replaced. The music was part of the experience of Kodocha, and so something significant was lost. Now, less than a year later yet another theme song is lost, this time in Guu. I’ve not encountered any other company that has had to resort to these measures, let alone twice in so short a time. I am having serious doubts about Funimation. Could we please have an explanation?

I would like to amend my last post. I was not originally aware that AN Entertainment had been responsible for the North American release, and that Funimation's responsibility seems to involve only distribution. I apologize for that oversight. Could you please comment on this co-licensing arrangement?

I'd also like to know why the ending song was changed... I have never come across something like this on other anime DVDs...

Hi everyone. This is John from AN Entertainment. Regarding the "new" ending theme song used on our Haré+Guu DVDs, that was unfortunately out of our control. Due to some sort of copyright or licensing dispute in Japan, our Japanese licensor couldn't allow us to use the original Japanese ending theme song for the TV series. We miss the original ending as much as all of you do. But we hope you'll agree that the "new" ending theme doesn't really compromise the humor or appeal of the show.

to Wryyyyyyyy... (etc):

I agree, torrents aren't necessarily bad. The intent behind the people using them can be, though. There are countless torrents around containing copyrighted material. I'm glad to see that not a single site has Hare`+Guu listed as a torrent any more (with the exception of Final since it's not licensed yet). Unfortunately, there are many series, ovas, etc. that are licensed yet are still available to download. Like I've said before, if you like it, you should actually buy it.

first of all, Good job with Hare Guu to everyone involved, actors alike

2 questions mostly, one about Hare the other not so about Hare

1) What other anime titles is AN Entertainment in the process of licensing

2) General Question to any of the staff+ people at AN Entertainment/actors, what was it like working on a show like Hare Guu, can you name some fun and some unfun times through the process of the title being dubbed and being out on the market for the buyer so to speak

3) if Hare Guu proves sucessful in the US anime market would AN Entertain invistagate the possibility of Hare Guu special episodes or maybe a sequal

4) will any future volumes of Hare Guu have any Limited items, however limited they may be like say postcards or something collectable

okay thats 4 questions lol

bye

"'The jungle was nice and then came Guu'... (I like the jap name better then "hare+guu")."
I don't mind Hare+Guu since my shorthand for the series has always been simply Hare nochi Guu. But the proper translation for the title is "The Jungle is Always Clear [hare] with a Chance of Guu," a parody of a weather forecast.

And since this is the Ask the Staff section, I'll ask a question that's been burning in my mind since I watched episode 4: why is Wiggle's name written as Uighur in the subtitles, and pronounced Weagle (rhymes with beagle) in the dub? I mean, Uighur is close to the flat-out romanization, but if you're going to do that, then why not have Lazy-sensei be Reiji? I guess I just want to know what reasoning went into that naming decision.
