Fan Forums > DVD Release (Region 1)

I noticed you said you had two different versions of the translated script. May I suggest, if possible, for you to put both versions on the discs? I don't know how possible that would be, but since subtitle tracks (I assume) don't take up much space on the disc, it would be really easy to add them on. Of course, voiceovers would be more difficult but if you at least got them both on in subtitle form that'd be awesome.

But at least you're releasing them here. Thanks a lot!

1. The DVD box set great idea, a cool extra would either be (or all of the following) a plush pokute, art book, and or Hale+Guu Tee.

2. Why change the music. I have to say the music was awsome and very catchy.

So is this still going to be released this summer or has it been delayed? Sorry, but I really want it

The ending music was changed because of a copyright issue. This is not any sort of localisation thing. Even in Japan, the music rights are disputed and it is unsure whether the ending theme will be on their DVDs either.

thats horrible they might take out the songs that was half the fun of the show !

I agree. The songs were one of the best things in the show. Sister Mayo shouldn't have any problems, heck they are become world known!

Guys, it's not ALL the music that's a problem -- just the ending theme. While I like the TV ending, it's not THAT big a loss. Better than losing the awesome openings. ^_^*

in my impatience for the dvds to come out, i contacted someone at ANentertainment. it seems that the dvds will be released in fall/late fall instead of the summer. while this may annoy some or disappoint others, AN is working hard to get the dvds out, but also to make sure the dvds are quality.

also, if you're young and jobless and can only afford one or two ofthe dvds, you can push your parents to get more of them for christmas :P

That is the way I plan to get my DVD's. So the timing works a little better for me. I can't wait to hear the new ending theme.

Since the ending theme issue was brought up here as well, I'll quote another post I made in another thread.

"Seeing the preview dub of the first two episodes, I have to say the ending theme (should this be the final one they're going with) isn't that bad. Granted I wasn't too awed by the origional in the first place, this one is a little vocaless tune that is not unlike elevator music. Not good, but certainately not bad either."

So sorry to say so Jungle Feaver, but don't get your hopes up. If what I heard was the final version, you're setting yourself up for a fall.

Well, Suboshi is entitled to his or her opinion. Thankfully, so am I. For those of you who have trolled the boards here a while, you'll remember that I mentioned previously in another, more appropriate thread that the success or downfall of the series entirely depends on the dub for Guu. A multitude of sins can be forgiven if Guus dub works. By the same token, even a stellar job by the rest of the cast will mean squat if Guu sucks. After hearing two episodes dubbed (the first one twice, at the screening and then at the panel), I have to say that in my opinion they've done a spectacular job. From what I've heard, I really liken it to the early dubs of Ranma 1/2 (when Viz was showing that they cared ;) ), and as has been mentioned elsewhere the dub that was shown isn't finalized. There were a few things that bugged me, mostly the pronunciation of certain names (Reiji as Lazy, and Mari as Marie), but those can be easily fixed, and frankly, even if they aren't they shouldn't really spoil the series for any but the most snobbishly standoffish of anime purists. Let's face it, though. Those guys will be watching it in original japanese with subtitles ANYHOW, so I consider that a moot point ;)

Oh, by the by. The tentative release date is December 28th. Straight from them. If you're like me, you'll beg them to bring it out BEFORE christmas ;) Who ever has money AFTER?

who has money after christmas? kids and teens with gift cards, that's who!

That fits my description well.

I like the idea of an extra goodie coming with the DVD set. Guu bobbleheads would be AWESOME. :D

I can't wait for this series to come out. I've been waiting for it for way too long, and when I heard it was licensed, I was jumping up and down (in my computer chair) in excitement. Thanks for taking this one, AN.

I second the idea for a goodie in with the DVD box. A Guu plushie with the narrow "evil" eyes. Or a Guu bobblehead; that would be hilarious.

I heard rumors of an afro head/chest wig, which I think would be the coolest thing ever. With pins of all the characters being second (ala Azumanga Daioh).

I also heard this rumor. It is suppose to come in the box set that will only cost $10.00 more than the DVD only.

It is a really good deal, any Hare Guu fan would pick it up
November 21, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterJungle Fever
I just got the DVD, and I think that you guys did a pretty good job on the voices. I also like the ending theme, as it's the disco theme Guu dances to.

Anyhow, I was wondering if there are any plans, once the DVDs are finished, to release a box set of all the DVDs so that we can buy the entire season at once, instead of paying the $157.36 total it would cost to buy each of the 7 DVDs seperately.
